How do I sign up?

MassLocal offers three ways to sign up for service: Online, by phone, or by going to the office at 1953 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02124.

How long does it take to get connected?

Once your activation fee has been received, it takes two to five business days for your service to be activated. However, the length of time to be connected depends on your area, and weather conditions.

Can my new phone number be private?

Yes! We have a special privacy package for you. See the details, here: Privacy Package

Will I need a modem/router for Internet service?

Yes! You must have a Verizon-compatible DSL modem/router. Modem/routers are available at local electronics stores, such as Radio Shack, Best Buy, or online. Also, you can order the appropriate modem/router through this website. See the details, here: Modem / Router

Can I use the Internet service for NetFlix?

Absolutely! MassLocal's Internet service can be used for all streaming media.

What are MassLocal's customer service hours?

MassLocal's call center operates from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. When you call us, you will get a live agent to help you with your needs unless incoming lines are busy. If incoming lines are busy, you will be forwarded to our automated system. After hours, we utilize an automated system to assist with frequently asked questions, and emergency repairs.

Is it easy to get started with MassLocal?

Yes! The only information that you must provide is the name that you want to appear on your bill, and the address of where you want the service connected, an email address and contact telephone number…..that is it!

How can I pay my bill?

You can make a payment over the phone with a debit or credit card, online through this wwebsite, by mail (money orders only), or in person at 1953 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02124 [near Ashmont Station ].

What is the difference between MassLocal and other telephone companies?

MassLocal provides the same services as other Internet and telephone companies, except it is “Pay- as-you-go.” You pay for services up front, and as you need them.

Will MassLocal refer people calling my old telephone number to my new MassLocal number?

Yes. In most cases, MassLocal is able to provide this service.

Can I use the telephone line for a fax machine?

Absolutely!

Can I dial the operator or Directory Assistance?

Yes, but Directory Assistance calls are charged to your bill, and they can be very expensive. In order to keep your phone bill the same amount each month, these calls are not recommended. All MassLocal customers are sent a phone book to aid in finding telephone numbers.

Why did my service expire?

All services are paid in advance. If we do not receive your payment in full by the due date, then your service may expire.
